Trip to Gayndah's Maison de Citroën - 16 and 17 may 2009

Two of the 2CVs visiting for the weekend
The weather was just perfect for a drive to Gayndah, about 4 hours north of Brisbane. 2CVers from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast met at Eumundi at lunchtime, and left together from there.
At Gayndah we met up with other 2CVers coming from Maryborough and Chinchilla.
It was just a great weekend, not only for the magnificent collection of immaculate Citroëns going back nearly a hundred years, but also thanks to the wonderful hospitality provided by Peter and Les and families.

Part of the "Maison de Citroën" collection
You can see photos of some of the cars in the 2CV Club gallery.
All cars in the collection have been meticulously restored, and are truly worth the visit.
Citroëns include a 2C (5HP Type C) from the early 20's (also known as "le Citron"), a DS Cabriolet (so beautiful it will make you drool ...), Safaris, a 2CV Beachcomber, a few Charlestons, Ami 6s and 8s, Traction Avants, including a convertible, SM etc.

Welcoming drinks
We all would like to thank Les and Peter and their kind folk for the most wonderful welcome, and the glorious food and drinks. We really appreciated the hospitality, the guided tour and the insight into the history and background of the collection.

Traction Avant Convertible
This is definitely a trip we have to do again sometime, you don't even have to be a Citroën or a car freak to appreciate the history and quality on show. Thanks again !

Perched on one of the highest points of the Blackall Range in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland sits this secluded and very private couples retreat. There are three luxuriously appointed cabins: Amore (love), Dream and Calm, a two bedroom cabin.
